Jiayuguan, the most western end of the Great Wall with 6 kilometers southwest of Jianyuguan City of Gansu Province, or 380 kilometers from Dunhuang City and 750 kilometers from Lanzhou City, is built in the Hongwu emperor period in Ming Dynasty and got its name got its name for being located on the Jayu Highland between the Wenshu and Heishan mountains at the foot of the Qilian Mountains. It is the best preserved section of the whole Great Wall and the essential stop of the ancient Silk Road in the narrowest point of the western part of Hexi Corridor.
