Located in the cool mountain national nature reserve of the Linan city, northwestward of the Zhejiang province, the Grand Canal is the longest canal with best vegetation protection, best landscape scenery with mountain and rivers, least resident population in the canyon area and the shortest distance from Shanghai and Hangzhou city. The canal featuring the high mountains and rushing waters, whose mountains are the Huangshan extended -odd arteries and water is the origin of the Qiantang river water system.
With a total length of 80 kilometers, the Canyon tourist area is characterized by linear band. It is divided into three sections: the first section starts from Longgang Tower to the Fish Jump the Eight Immortals Pound, which is called ” Longjing Gorge”, which is 18 kilometers long with spectacular peaks and beautiful waterfall and perilously precipitous rocks. The second section starts from the Fish Jumping the Huaguang Bridge to the Creek on the Crown Tip, which is called “The Creek Gorge” with about 26 kilometers. In this section, the canyon topography is high and steep, and the water flows and rushes quickly, and it is the only region to produce the national treasure—bloodstone in China. The third section, called “Zhejiang Gate Gorge”, starts from the Creek on the Crown Tip to the Ma Xiao lion rock ridge village and it is nearly 30 kilometers long, where you can see the mountain and waterfalls telescoped and some famous marvelous spectacle that will shock you.
Once was discovered, the Grand Canal got the approval of the tourism industries and the Zhejiang tourism bureau experts call it “the First Tourism Canyon in East China “.
